Government of India-United Nations Sustainable Development Framework (SDF) to sign a Five-Year Sustainable Development Framework (2018-2022). It outlines the work of UN agencies in India.

Key Facts:

  • To support the achievement of key development outcomes
  • The NITI Aayog is the national counterpart for the UN in India for the operationalization of the UNSDF.
  • The UNSDF 2018-22 comprises of seven priority areas that outline the work that UN agencies will undertake jointly or individually, fully aligned with the priorities of the GoI.

PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) is a comprehensive package which will result in creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet.

Highlights:

  • The scheme will be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
  • Providing better returns to farmers and is a big step towards doubling of farmers income
  • Creating huge employment opportunities especially in the rural areas
  • Reducing wastage of agricultural produce
  • Increasing the processing level and
  • Enhancing the export of the processed foods.

The following schemes will be implemented under PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana :

  • Mega Food Parks
  • Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure
  • Creation/ Expansion of Food Processing/ Preservation Capacities (Unit Scheme)

Centre of Excellence for Data Analytics

  • National Informatics Centre (NIC) and National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI) have jointly set up a Centre of Excellence for data analytics.
  • To support Government departments to unlock the hidden potential of the data that they are generating as part of the governance processes
  • To improve the overall governance.
  • The sole vision of kick-starting and fast-tracking the adoption of advanced analytic and machine learning capabilities by making the Centre the locus of expertise and excellence in the field of Data Analytics.
  • The centre shall provide quality data analytic services to government departments at all levels by identifying appropriate tools and technologies and deploying people with right expertise.
  • CEDA proposes to establish strong partnerships with academia and industry to ensure that the cutting edge technologies and quality expertise are brought in to help the Government.
  • The centre proposes to build tools and technologies, in collaboration with academia and industry.
